“I like the little tips you give for improving my leading as I am primarily a follower but when the number of followers far exceeds the leaders, I switch roles. Also, I like the way you write and sometimes I find myself thinking a lot about the comments that you make. Like the ‘difference between balance and stability’. Or how to make my dance more interesting…” – Virginia Kelleher

“Your emails are very interesting and I use them to improve my dance. Thank You.” – Michael Scherer

“I like getting your emails as I value your knowledge and writing style. The recent piece on the giro as a structural base of tango was exactly my thoughts, and your last checklist was interesting, too. Please keep writing and sending emails.” – Sofya Zemlyanova

“Somehow I think that you are one of the few that get it.” – Gilbert Barraza

It addresses questions I have been grappling with myself and others I had not thought about but which are completely relevant for me. So for me it’s really: “Please more of the same but feel free to explore anything else” 😊.” – Alain Galaski

“What I like about the CT is there is always an educational component to your work. The word “curious” is befitting in that you offer a glimpse into your struggle to shed light on not often discussed subjects in tango.” – Batt Johnson

“It is concise. Just enough repetition/rephrasing to make a concept clear. Little fluff. Takes a light-hearted approach to the mysteries of tango connections, yet often expresses them in a lyrically beautiful way. Doesn’t hesitate to poke fun at self, where that adds to the understanding. Thanks for the thoughtful mailings.” – David Phillips

“Enjoying! “ – Tina Eaton

““I enjoy the content a lot. I started dancing about 3 months ago so I still struggle a little with my balance. I’d love to see some more content on how to hold your balance better. Thank you for all the great advice. I’ve benefited from it quite a lot already. “ – Jeff S

“I’m enjoying your lovely newsletter“ – Leila Simonen

“Everything is ok and I appreciate the content. Good job!“ – Ornella Cella

Some of the emails you will receive:

Your tango embrace: the most important advice I ever received

Opening and closing the embrace with grace

The most unique musicality tip I ever received

Starting a giro – the most critical moment

A curious fact about bridges in tango

How to accelerate in tango easily

Boost your tango creativity

…and hundreds more.

That’s the back of my head at the end of a tanda.

The real secret to becoming a good tango dancer.

Black clothes.

Who, what, why?

I, Dimitris Bronowski, am in love with tango, took lots of tango classes and forgot most of the things I learned.

I managed the growth of the Tango Partner app (14,000 active users so far), wrote a couple of tango books, created many online tango projects (completely failed quite a few of them too), and I smile and laugh as much as I can.

Daily, I come across wonderful tango advice, take private or group classes, and discover initiatives, resources, apps, books, platforms, etc. that can help tango leaders improve their dance, get more dances, discover and join great tango events, develop their embrace and much more.

In this newsletter, I share what I discover with you.

How often will you receive emails if you join this tango newsletter?

Once a week, more or less, unless I find something useful, entertaining, or inspiring mid-week that I can’t wait sharing.

You might receive an email on Monday at 10:21 am, then another on a Friday at 11:43 pm, because heck, that’s when I found something valuable, and then not hear from me for a couple of weeks.

P.S. If you don’t hear from me for more than 2 weeks, please call my 67 year-old mom. She’ll travel from Greece to Portugal just to check on me. And she’ll bring fresh olive oil. And mousaka. And she’ll babysit. Greek mothers do that. That’s love. I am sorry if your mother is not Greek too.

Is this tango newsletter for followers or leaders?

Both.

I spent thousands of euros and hours developing my dance and I always tried to understand both roles as good as I could.

I’ll just need your understanding when it comes to pronouns. I’ll talk to you as if you were a guy in a milonga. Focus on the advice and assume that anything a man/leader can do wrong a woman/leader can do wrong too, and vice versa. Same for followers. We are equally flawed.

You can learn from everything, so learn what you can, and share your tango discoveries with others.

You may start by sharing a link to this newsletter with your friends.

Come on. Click, Share, Make someone happier.

Are you going to try to sell or promote paid stuff?

The best things in life are free: love, a deep breath, an embrace.

There are also some pretty cool, helpful, eye-opening stuff that are not free.

I discovered deep insights about tango when I received an honest hug and during some paid private classes.

My promise: I’ll send you what I think is helpful. Then, I’ll leave it up to you to decide if it is worth it.

You are a big boy.

Or girl.

(But if you are not, please don’t join this newsletter before asking your mom. Or dad.

Better ask your mom.

Dads do stupid things.

I know, I am one.)

Anything else you should know?

If you are offended by any of my emails, take a deep breath, probably I didn’t have you specifically in mind when I wrote whatever I wrote.

And before you judge, email me. If I fucked up, I’ll correct myself, hopefully becoming a better person on the way. That’s life: becoming a better version of who we are and hopefully die ready. Keep in mind though, in the words of Dave Chappelle: “I support anyone’s right to be who they want to be. My question is: to what extent do I have to participate in your self-image?“

P.S. In the rare case that I did want to offend you specifically, look deeper, you probably deserved it. In multiple levels. And click on that unsubscribe button. That’s what it’s there for. Learn to take out of your life the news, people, and behaviours that don’t make you happier. You don’t have time for this, life is short. Surround yourself with people that care and respect you. I am just bits and bytes on a screen, the real life is out there. I can’t believe you are still reading this. Seriously, you have nothing better to do? Well, in this case, take three deep breaths. During the first, focus on your breath, during the second on the feeling of your weight on whatever you are seated on at the moment. During the third breath remember of a happy moment and let happiness come in. And don’t forget to unsubscribe.
