While writing the ‘How to dance more in milongas‘ book I came across 4 feet-related tips.
That’s what I discovered:
2 ideas on how to reduce pain and discomfort.
1 idea on making the feet shine.
1 idea on protecting the heels.
You can read about them below.
Heels by Madreselva
Pain or discomfort 1
I recently danced with a woman that had something weird between her big toe and the second toe.
I asked, and that’s what she told me more or less:
”While dancing, followers put strain on their big toes.
And that often leads to pain or discomfort around the -big word alert- metatarsophalangeal joint of the big toe.
The one in the circle:
So, I bought a toe spreader and wear it while dancing.
It helps a lot.”
If you don’t know what a toe spreader is, you can find some here:
If you buy any of the above and try them, please do let me know your experience. It’s through your feedback that I can identify better products for tango dancers. If you click on the links above, I may receive a small commision from Amazon.
Pain or discomfort 2
This came from a wonderful tango friend.
Lots of athletes are now using infrared light to fight inflammation and he decided to try it.
What my friend told me:
”I can be dancing all night, then put this on for 20 minutes, and the next morning I feel brand new.”
This is an example of Infrared Light for the Feet.
Rise and shine
I first noticed it during a performance. The follower had put some small sparkling stickers on the outsole.
Everytime she was doing a voleo, or simply pointing her toes backwards, the stickers were sparkling, producing a wonderful effect and enhancing the movement.
You can get thousands of those for about 5$. An example.
Protecting the heels
I noticed this in a milonga in Lisbon. A girl had put high heel protectors on her shoes.
”It protects them from getting destroyed too fast. Saves me money,” she said.
Take a look.
