What would the ideal tango AirBnB look like?

I asked myself this question, and this is what I came up with:

  • It has to have a dance floor.
  • The host must love tango.
  • Swimming pool would be great.
  • Surrounded by nature.
  • Optional tango practice sessions.
  • Lots of tango books.
  • Close to a nice city with plenty of things to explore.
  • Great breakfast to start the day.
  • Comfortable accommodation.
  • Good price.
  • Wonderful conversations.
  • Some good wine.
  • Chocolate and ice-cream.

Well…

That’s what I created.

First, watch the video:

 Now, let’s break it down:

It has to have a dance floor.

Yep. It fits 10-15 couples, but you probably won’t have to share it with anyone.

And if you don’t know what to practice, no worries, I’ll be happy to give you a few ideas.

Unless you already know everything. Most of us do. I know.

The host must love tango.

I am Dimitris Bronowski, known as the Curious Tanguero. I publish a weekly tango-tips newsletter for thousands of tango dancers, create podcast episodes, and reels with tips on facebook. I also wrote quite a few tango books, like Tangofulness that was translated in 14 languages, or When the Embrace Whispers, or Tango Tips by the Maestros, or… Well, you get it. I also grew the Tango Partner app to 14,000 users, created resources for tango communities, teachers and organizers around the world. And I organize the Tangofulness Immersion. And… Well, you get the idea. I like tango.

Swimming pool would be great.

17 meters long. That’s like, a lot. Sometimes you’ll feel lonely.

Surrounded by nature.

Sheep for calmness, chickens for fresh eggs, grass and trees, birds coming to drink water from the swimming pool, blue skies and red sunsets.

Optional tango practice sessions.

I’ll be happy to help you have some fun practice sessions if that’s what you want to do. I can give you access to tango practice ideas.

Alternatively, we can schedule some paid practice sessions where I can help you myself.

Lots of tango books.

And I don’t just mean the ones I wrote. I have plenty of books from other tango authors too.

Close to a nice city with plenty of things to explore.

You’ll be located in Antanhol, which is a 7 minutes Uber ride from Coimbra, in Portugal. You can get to Coimbra by bus or train from both Porto and Lisbon. I’ll pick you from the station if needed.

Coimbra is a super cool city in Portugal with an old, magical university that has a library straight out of a fairy tale! With narrow streets to explore, live Fado music, and even ancient Roman ruins, it’s the perfect place for adventure, history, and amazing views by the river!

For the adventurers, a day kayaking (family friendly) or a walk in the Passadiços de Conimbriga will be waiting for you.

And for lunch, wonderful restaurants right next to the river will do the trick.

Great breakfast to start the day.

We’ll prepare that for you. We like to eat. We got you.

From vegan to blood sucking carnivores, we have done it before, we´ll do it again.

Comfortable accommodation

Double bed, private bathroom, balcony, and plenty of space for the 4 pairs of tango shoes you are carrying around for no particular reason. And WiFi, so that you can avoid real human communication. Seriously, what´s wrong with all of us?

Good price.

OK. Let’s think about it. Accommodation, breakfast, access to dance floor (and ideas for training sessions) and swimming pool, and two wonderful hosts.

I mean, that’s invaluable.

But if you have to ask:

60 Euros per night for one person, 70 for two.

Unless you call it CabAceo. In this case we charge extra.

Wonderful conversations.

If you know my content, you know I like to talk about tango and share tips, insights, and the occasional secrets.

But I’ll let you talk too.

Probably.

Some good wine.

Portugal is famous for its Porto wine. We can have some at night. Or for breakfast, I am not judging you. Well, not in front of you.

Chocolate and ice-cream

Honestly, forget about tango. The best ice-cream I ever had is literally in a little store 15 minutes away from home. Vegan options included (incapable of choosing? Go for coconut and pistachio). And 10 meters away… Ohhhhhhhh…. A tiny chocolate store, where you can find unique pieces of joy ready to melt in your mouth. If you get the chance, try the one with peanuts and roses. Yes. Roses!

OK, how do I check for availability?
